What you'll achieveAs an
Export Controls Advisor, you will be responsible for evaluating product classifications and managing licensing requirements to ensure compliance with applicable U.S. regulations. You will work with Engineering, Product Management, Legal, and global business teams on the release, deployment, and international movement of advanced technologies, directly enabling global market access while protecting sensitive technology. Your guidance will shape compliant business expansion and support critical decisions across the product lifecycle.
You will:- Determine and maintain Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) for products, software, technology, and services under applicable U.S. export control regulations.
- Assess export, reexport, and in-country transfer transactions to identify licensing requirements and available license exceptions.
- Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Legal, and business teams to provide guidance on export control restrictions and compliance obligations.
- Prepare and manage Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) license applications while supporting compliance audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor developments in export control regulations, including those related to advanced computing, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor technologies, and evaluate potential business impacts.

Essential Requirements- Strong working knowledge of the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including classification methodology, licensing requirements, deemed exports, and technology release regulations.
- Experience classifying products, software, and technology using Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs).
- Experience conducting restricted party, end-user, end-use, and country-based risk assessments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and develop practical compliance solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Political Science, or a related field.
Desirable Requirements- 5+ years of experience in Export Controls, Trade Compliance, or a related regulatory compliance function.
- Experience supporting technology, software, cloud computing, telecommunications, semiconductor, advanced computing, or artificial intelligence-related products and regulations.
