Job Description

Strategic ACI is seeking an Expert Systems Engineer to provide high-level technical leadership in support of complex geospatial intelligence systems across the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and other federal partners. In this position, you will support the Government in applying a multi-disciplinary systems engineering approach to requirements development, solution design, integration, testing, resiliency, and lifecycle management for enterprise-scale mission systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Government in systems engineering efforts across large-scale GEOINT mission environments.
  • Translate mission needs into technical requirements and system capabilities.
  • Evaluate and improve system architectures, workflows, and cloud-based services.
  • Provide technical recommendations on solution designs and emerging technologies.
  • Perform requirements analysis, traceability, and allocation to architecture components.
  • Support systems integration, verification, validation, and performance engineering activities.
  • Lead or support:
    1. Analysis of Alternatives (AoA)
    2. Course of Action (COA) development
    3. Trade studies
    4. Engineering assessments
  • Contribute to strategic planning, risk management, interface design, and project execution.
  • Provide expert guidance on aligning mission vision, strategy, and technical capabilities.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts across organizational and agency boundaries.
  • Mentor and oversee junior and senior systems engineering staff.
  • Apply knowledge of the current NSG/ASG and NRO enterprise environments.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph.
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Engineering Management, Management Information Systems, or another related STEM field -OR- 18+ years of systems engineering experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
  • 18+ years of experience supporting Government or industry in one or more of the following:
    1. DoD/IC Acquisition Processes
    2. Requirements development
    3. PPBES
    4. Large-scale System of Systems environments
    5. Cloud-based enterprise architectures
  • Strong understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle.


Desired:

  • Doctorate in a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Software Development Framework certification.
  • International Council on Systems Engineering Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as:
    1. United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation
    2. Open Geospatial Consortium
    3. American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing
  • Extensive experience in geospatial intelligence.
  • Experience designing solutions using:
    1. Cloud technologies (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
    2. Big Data platforms
    3. Automation and AI/ML technologies
  • Expertise in one or more of the following:
    1. Photogrammetry
    2. Remote sensing
    3. Image science
    4. Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
    5. Geomatics
    6. Information science
