Responsibilities

We are seeking an Expert Systems Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership in support of complex national security and geospatial intelligence programs. In this role, you will help guide multidisciplinary engineering teams through the full systems engineering lifecycle, ensuring mission requirements are translated into scalable, resilient, and effective solutions across enterprise environments. This position supports initiatives spanning the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and other Federal partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Government in leading systems engineering efforts across requirements development, solution design, integration, testing, sustainment, and performance analysis.
  • Analyze and trace user requirements to system architectures, workflows, and technical solutions.
  • Advise stakeholders on solution changes driven by mission needs, emerging technologies, and operational priorities.
  • Translate mission and customer needs into technical requirements and system capabilities.
  • Support allocation of requirements across system components and implementation programs.
  • Lead or support systems integration activities across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
  • Conduct and guide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Course of Action (CoA) studies, trade studies, and technical assessments.
  • Contribute to strategic technical planning, risk management, interface design, and performance engineering.
  • Provide technical guidance aligning long-term vision, mission needs, and engineering execution.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts across multiple major acquisition programs and organizational boundaries.
  • Mentor and oversee junior and senior engineering staff across the program.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar.
    • Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 18+ years of experience in government or industry supporting:
    • DoD/IC acquisition processes
    • Requirements management
    • PPBES
    • Large-scale systems engineering in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of current NSG/ASG and NRO enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting NGA, Intelligence Community, or DoD programs.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Software Development Framework certification.
  • International Council on Systems Engineering ESEP certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with:
    • Cloud-based architectures
    • Big Data environments
    • Automation and Artificial Intelligence solutions
    • Geospatial intelligence technologies
  • Expertise in:
    • Photogrammetry
    • Remote sensing
    • Image science
    • GIS / geomatics
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as:

Target Salary Range$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
