A Snapshot of Your DayAs a Cooling Flow System and Clearance Design Engineer, you will work in an international team of engineers on projects for the development of service upgrades and new products, as well as in support of our service organization. You will typically collaborate closely with project managers, component engineers, and colleagues from manufacturing and service.
You will work independently on your assigned tasks and coordinate priorities together within a global team.
How You'll Make an ImpactUse of internal and commercial calculation software for:
- Creating calculation models to describe the cooling air supply of hot gas components in a gas turbine and evaluating the corresponding results
- Creating calculation models to describe the transient heating and thermal expansion of the entire gas turbine, as well as determining optimal assembly clearances between rotating and stationary components
- Evaluating model results and deriving design-relevant conclusions
- Contributing to the conceptual development of the secondary air system and associated gas turbine components
- Analyzing operational data and insights from prototypes and the existing fleet
What You BringRequired
- BS Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering degree
- 10+ years professional experience in heat transfer and fluid mechanics, ideally with cooling air systems and clearance design for gas turbines
- Strong mechanical engineering, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
Highly Preferred
- Cooling air systems and clearance design for gas turbines
- Numerical software applications like Ansys, Abaqus, NX, StarCCM, or similar
- Programming languages like Visual Basic, C++, C# and/or Fortran
- Intercultural work experience in global teams is an advantage
Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
About the TeamOur Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
