About the Associate Consultant Position

Associate Consultants (ACs) are integral members of Bridgespan's consulting teams, partnering with colleagues at all levels to analyze complex issues, develop evidence-based insights, and support recommendations that help clients achieve greater impact. Through curiosity, critical thinking, analytical problem-solving and collaboration, ACs help inform strategic decision-making and drive meaningful outcomes.

Once fully onboarded, ACs will follow our 50-50 staffing model working on two projects at a time with different teams. ACs enter as generalists, projects range considerably in topic and client profile, making it ideal for candidates who are enthusiastic about exploring the full range of work we do. Topics range considerably from education to public health to criminal justice, and much more. Our client portfolio includes philanthropists or philanthropic institutions; nonprofits or movements; and impact investors.

Associate Consultants work 50-55 hours per week on average, with variations week to week in response to client needs. Travel required could be 1-2 times a month depending on projects.

What you'll do:

• Evaluate complex business challenges using hypothesis-driven problem solving to develop insights that shape decisions
• Conduct qualitative analysis through interviews with client stakeholders and quantitative analysis such as financial modeling and projections, to develop data driven recommendations
• Prepare and deliver clear and compelling client materials including Power Point presentations, Excel models and other written deliverables
• Adapt to evolving project needs by incorporating feedback and refining work products and delivering high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.

How Bridgespan will support you:

While much of the learning occurs on the job, ACs attend formalized training sessions throughout their career at Bridgespan, beginning with an extensive orientation program. As ACs progress, they gain access to additional training focused on developing deeper consulting skills. While the work is rigorous and the learning curve steep, Bridgespan invests in helping each Associate Consultant build the fundamentals of a successful career: cracking tough problems, communicating solutions with clients and teams, and collaborating with experienced Consultants and Managers.

Experienced Associate Consultant Qualifications

18+ months of strategy or management consulting experience at a consulting firm is required

• Bachelor's degree
• Strong academic background
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to apply a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in analysis
• Highly self-motivated
• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
• Strong commitment to teamwork
• Commitment to the nonprofit sector

Compensation
We are committed to equitable and transparent compensation. Salary ranges for Advisory roles are tiered and based on level and years of experience.

Associate Consultant II: $87,000
Senior Associate Consultant: $105,000
Consultant I: $148,000

Location

We expect all colleagues, including experienced ACs, to start their careers local to a Bridgespan office, given the apprenticeship nature of much of our work. All local Bridgespanners are expected to work from a Bridgespan office at least 2 days per week. For this role in particular, candidates should be willing to relocate to the Boston office, if not already local. This policy is designed to offer meaningful opportunity for in-person relationship building and mentorship, while also offering staff considerable flexibility.
