Summary

The Executive Officer serves as the principal advisor to leadership on Human Resources Division (HRD) administrative programs, and is accountable for managing special programs, projects, and executive correspondence, as well as providing general administrative support.

This position is located in the Human Resources Division, Arlington, Virginia.

Duties

As a Executive Officer at the GS-0301-14 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate administrative activities for an office or division to ensure timely completion of tasks and deliverables in accordance with agency policies and deadlines.
  • Monitor and track correspondence, reports, or action items to ensure leadership is informed of status and outstanding issues.
  • Prepare briefing materials, background information, or meeting agendas to support leadership decision-making.
  • Review or interpret federal regulations, directives, or policies to advise staff on compliance requirements.
  • Serve as liaison between organizational components or external agencies to coordinate program activities or resolve issues.

Qualifications

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit Promotion and Veterans Employment Opportunity Act (VEOA) Status applicants must provide an SF50 Notice of Personnel Action that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF50 must include the position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, type of service (Competitive or Excepted) and career status (career or career-conditional). No award SF50 will be accepted as proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.

  • One year at the GS-13 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 grade level.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the education and/or experience required for the grade level(s) to which you apply.

To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must meet the following:

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties:

  1. Coordinating administrative activities for an office or division to support leadership in meeting operational priorities and deadlines;
  2. Monitoring the status of correspondence, action items, or reports to keep leadership informed of pending and outstanding matters;
  3. Reviewing office procedures or business practices to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to increase organizational effectiveness;
  4. Preparing briefing materials, background summaries, or written products to support leadership in meetings or decision making activities; and
  5. Serving as a liaison between organizational components or with external agencies to coordinate program activities or resolve administrative issues.
