Job Description

The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the Avondale Meadows YMCA. Reporting to the Associate Vice President and working closely with the Center Advisory Board, this position oversees all aspects of center operations, including staff leadership, financial management, community engagement, fundraising, strategic planning, facility operations, and program development. The Executive Director serves as a key ambassador for the YMCA, building strong community partnerships and advancing the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful professional leadership experience.
  • Nonprofit management experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of YMCA philosophy, mission, and values.
  • Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
  • Extensive experience recruiting, supervising, and developing staff and volunteers.
  • Proven success in fundraising and annual campaigns.
  • Experience driving membership growth and revenue development.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful marketing strategies.
  • Strong financial management and budget oversight experience.
  • Track record of program innovation and community engagement.


Essential Functions

Leadership & Staff Management
Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
Lead and develop staff and volunteers to achieve organizational goals.
Promote YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Provide leadership and support for association-wide initiatives.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Community Engagement
Build and strengthen relationships with community leaders, organizations, businesses, and government agencies.
Ensure YMCA programs and services are accessible to diverse populations.
Communicate the YMCA's community impact to stakeholders.
Convene community leaders and stakeholders to support center priorities.
Develop and engage the Center Advisory Board and committees.

Philanthropy & Fundraising
Lead annual fundraising and donor engagement strategies.
Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors and funding partners.
Identify and secure new funding opportunities.
Support sustainable philanthropic growth aligned with strategic priorities.

Operations & Financial Management
Direct all center operations, facilities, and program sites.
Develop, manage, and evaluate the annual operating budget.
Ensure financial sustainability and achievement of operational goals.
Oversee strategic planning and annual operating plans.
Monitor and evaluate organizational performance using data and reporting.
Ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities, grounds, and equipment.

Program Development & Growth
Lead the creation and evaluation of high-quality member programs and services.
Develop strategies to increase member engagement and participation.
Plan and implement program and service expansion opportunities.
Execute community relations and marketing initiatives that increase visibility and growth.
Align center operations and programming with YMCA strategic objectives.
