Full Job Description
UTHealth Houston's Marketing and Communications department is seeking an Executive Director of Marketing Intelligence. This employee will provide executive leadership for the university's enterprise marketing intelligence strategy, advancing data-driven decision-making across UTHealth Houston's academic, research, and clinical missions. This role serves as the institution's senior leader for marketing intelligence, analytics, performance measurement, digital insights, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, establishing the strategic vision, governance, and
innovation roadmap for enterprise marketing intelligence. The Executive Director serves as a trusted advisor to executive
leadership, translating complex data into actionable insights that inform institutional strategy, optimize marketing investments, and advance organizational priorities.

Essential Functions:
  • Leads the development and execution of the development, implementation, and continuous advancement of the enterprise marketing intelligence strategy supporting institutional goals and long-term organizational growth.
  • Establishes enterprise governance for marketing performance measurement, key performance indicators, attribution methodologies, executive dashboards, and reporting standards that demonstrate organizational impact and return on investment.
  • Develops executive-ready dashboards, forecasts, and strategic insights that inform institutional priorities, identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and support executive decision-making.
  • Directs the analysis of marketing, campaign, audience, and digital performance data across web, search, social, CRM, and other digital platforms to optimize engagement, conversion, and organizational outcomes.
  • Serves as the senior strategic advisor to the university and clinical leadership by providing marketing intelligence that supports patient acquisition, service line growth, brand strategy, student recruitment, and institutional reputation while ensuring privacy-first data practices.
  • Provides executive oversight for the evaluation, governance, and implementation of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics solutions that enhance marketing intelligence, innovation, experimentation, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration with marketing, digital, IT, compliance teams, and university leadership to ensure responsible, ethical, and effective use of enterprise data and artificial intelligence.
  • Establishes and leads a high-performing enterprise marketing intelligence function by developing organizational capabilities, promoting data literacy, and implementing best practices, standards, and governance across the institution.
  • Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports, including recruiting and selection; hiring and termination; training, development, mentoring, and counseling; performance evaluations; and salary planning.
  • Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded; financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.


Certification/Skills:
  • Advanced understanding of marketing intelligence, analytics, and performance measurement frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing ecosystems, analytics platforms, BI tools, and data architectures.
  • Experience applying artificial intelligence or machine learning tools to marketing analytics or audience insights.
  • Ability to translate complex analytics into clear, executive-ready insights and recommendations.
  • Strong data storytelling, visualization, and executive communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to connect data insights to institutional goals and outcomes.
  • Systems-thinking mindset across platforms, campaigns, channels, and audience journeys.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across marketing, communications, digital, IT, and clinical teams.
  • Experience operating effectively in complex, matrixed, or highly regulated environments.
  • Work may involve handling biohazardous, chemical, and radiological materials, as well as operating associated equipment. Required safety training and appropriate engineering and administrative controls including the use of personal protective equipment must be followed.
  • AI, analytics, or data-related certification preferred

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in marketing, analytics, business, communications, data science, or a related field required

Minimum Experience:

7 years of progressive experience in marketing analytics, marketing intelligence, digital strategy, data intelligence, or marketing technology, including experience translating complex data into strategic insights and leading or influencing teams and initiatives required

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
