POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages all University Health Facilities Departments including the Community Hospital Facilities Departments ensuring appropriate management concepts, techniques, and tools are maintained at a high level with maximum results. Provides efficient management of the department through schedules and controls, procurement and proper use and storage of equipment and supplies, and sound fiscal and productivity principles. Directly responsible for ensuring building, grounds, machinery, utilities, and distribution systems are maintained in excellent operating condition and repaired promptly and efficiently, as well as the development and implementation of capital improvements and the delivery of capital projects in order to provide and maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff at all University Health locations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Healthcare Administration or other applicable degree is required. Background experience to include one of the following: Minimum of ten years' experience in healthcare engineering and/or fire protection or minimum of five years' experience in performing physical surveys of the facility and conducting building evaluations for compliance with the appropriate regulatory agencies. A Master's degree is highly preferred, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical, supplemented with special training in facilities management or central utility plant management and ten years of managerial experience in a 500+ bed hospital. Preferred designation as Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) through the American Hospital Association (AHA).
