Job SummaryThe Executive Director of Major Facilities Projects oversees all facilities and major maintenance projects, including demolitions. This role ensures projects align with the district's strategic goals and meet scope, timeline, and budget requirements. The Executive Director serves as a liaison between operations and other district offices and schools on facilities design and construction issues. This role is critical for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Essential Functions1. Leads, directs, and manages staff, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining. Plans, monitors, appraises, and reviews staff contributions to Facilities Major Construction services.
2. Establishes and maintains planning, construction management, documentation, and finance procedures for facilities projects.
3. Directs the development and execution of major facilities and maintenance projects, including demolitions.
4. Develops and reviews construction plans, project specifications, bid specifications, performance-based requirements, and contracts for facilities-related projects.
5. Coordinates the selection, negotiation of fees, contract evaluation and award, and scheduling of architects, engineers, and contractors.
6. Manages financial aspects, including budget preparation, project execution, and payments for assigned projects and programs.
7. Acts as Owner's Representative during construction, supervising design and construction by private professionals.
8. Participates in developing short and long-range facilities planning recommendations.
9. Assists school-based and administrative staff with major maintenance and construction requests, providing technical assistance.
10. Prepares and reviews Facilities School Board agenda items and workshop materials. Recommends changes to School Board policies related to facilities planning, real estate, design, and construction.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Technology management work experience may be substituted for coursework, major or degree.
Experience: Ten (10) years of information technology experience with at least five (5) years of senior level information technology management experience.
