Job DescriptionThe RoleAs a member of the Providence St. Joseph Health Clinical Informatics Medical senior leadership team, the Executive Director, Regional Medical Clinical Informatics is responsible, with their Nursing Informatics partner, for collaborative development, implementation, support, and on-going optimization of clinical informatics, Caring Reliably framework, IS strategy and other organizational commitments.
As a partner for clinical transformation and in collaboration with the Regional Chief Medical Officer, ministry Physician Executives and other physician and nursing leaders, the Executive Director, Regional Medical Clinical Informatics leads informatics initiatives with an emphasis on information technology and services to support physician and interdisciplinary care partners in the areas of practice, clinical applications, clinical and administrative decision-making, research and quality improvement initiatives, education, and resource management.
He or she combines expert knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts, and change management to effectively represent the information and knowledge needs and requirements of healthcare professionals and patients and to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of information technology in clinical settings. Scope may include acute care, ambulatory care, and post-acute care settings.

What You'll DoStrategy Development and Alignment; Collaboration- Continually aligns, develops, and promotes the value of clinical informatics in support of PSJH strategic priorities.
- Is responsible for working with other regional leaders of IS in setting technology standards, ensuring adherence to standards, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of technology.
- Maintains relationships with key business partners and other senior leaders in the IT industry in order to leverage best practices, evaluate emerging technologies, and distribute knowledge internally to inform plans and strategies.
- Ensures that clinical informatics supports IS services and systems effectively and meets the needs of the business.
- Participates in the development of the overall IS strategic business plan through proposing and advocating new technology opportunities.
- Develops and implements appropriate service delivery models for core functionalities where the IS organization is a trusted adviser in defining, delivering, and improving services for the enterprise and its customers.
Management and Leadership- In support of a dyad leadership model with the Executive Director of Regional Nursing Informatics, oversees, guides, and models excellent leadership behaviors in the management of clinical informatics at PSJH.
- Ensures the development and implementation of standards and policies for clinical informatics development across PSJH.
- Coordinates and facilitates teamwork with multidisciplinary groups facilitating cross-departmental strategy and process improvement initiatives.
- Provides responsive leadership; able to delegate, coordinate and motivate staff to achieve optimal performance in ensuring that direct and secondary reports support informatics services and EHR systems effectively and meet customer needs.
- Monitors the performance of clinical informatics resources and evaluates the performance of technology services on the basis of specific KPIs.
- Oversees budgeting and expenditures for all regional clinical informatics services, as well as cost-allocation methodologies to operational areas.
- Attracts, hires, trains, motivates, retains, and develops a team of first-rate professionals to perform the responsibilities of clinical informatics.
Operations- Collaborates with system, regional, service area, and ministry leadership to set and measure operational expectations for the field-based Clinical Informaticists that reinforces a consistent approach to informatics support and training.
- Develops and utilizes quantitative and qualitative methods of data management to develop and apply measures for the impact and value of the Clinical Informaticist role and uses findings to continuously improve.
- Directs collaborative development and measurement of Clinical Informaticist workforce staffing plans, targeting optimal assignment of team members to meet support needs.
- Balances multiple priorities and information needs across system, regional, and ministry stakeholders.
- Supports the alignment, coordination, and governance of Health Information System acquisition and maintenance with IS, clinical, and operational leadership in support of regional and system strategic priorities.
- Participates in the regional strategic planning, governance, and alignment of IS business strategies that support both internal and external affiliated and outreach customers.

- Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, employees, and, as appropriate, other information as required by Federal, State, and Company compliance policies.

- Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety and infection control into daily activities as outlined in system and department safety policies and procedures.
Customer Service- Develops and collaborates, using data, on individual and team objectives and capacities in the creation, definition, and advancement/support of new and existing standard operating procedures (SOP) and service level agreements (SLA) consistent with PSJH management, IS, and CI priorities with the goal of providing and maintaining excellent, realistic customer service.
- Measures and reports on individual and team objectives, SOPs, and SLAs as required or requested by CI and IS leadership.

What You'll BringEducation & Credentials- M.D., or D.O., or Master's Degree (Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Informatics, Informatics, Business Administration), Health Care Administration, Public Administration, Science or related healthcare field.
- Coursework/Training: Training in epidemiology, public health, health services research, or community-oriented primary care (preferred).
- Preferred upon hire: Board Clinical Informatics Certification (Informatics certifications or credentialing may be equivalent for up to 2 years of experience for this position at the hiring manager's discretion).
Experience & Expertise- 12 years Clinical and Information Services leadership/Clinical Informatics leadership experience in a healthcare setting, and 10 years total relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.
- 10 or more years of experience with management in a large healthcare system using the enterprise suite of Epic, MEDITECH, or Allscripts clinical health record applications (preferred).
- Experience standardizing complex and disparate processes (preferred).
- Experience in project management, process improvement methodology, change management, operational improvement in complex systems (preferred).
- Experience in epidemiology, public health, health services research, or community-oriented primary care (preferred).

The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.

Further, we want our leaders to live in or near the communities we serve. Therefore, leaders applying for this role will be required to work a hybrid schedule, which consists of three days onsite, two days remote and live within a reasonable commuting distance to the ministry or service area they support and lead.
Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
