Job Description

The Executive Director of Risk Management oversees the organization's comprehensive insurance and risk management program, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the reputation, safety, security, or financial success of the organization. The oversight includes the development, monitoring, maintenance, implementation and management of the corporation's property, casualty, and Workers' Compensation programs utilizing risk financing and risk control techniques. The Risk Management Director is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Elwyn Safety and Loss Prevention Programs and works collaboratively with Service Line Area and Support Department personnel. The ED of Risk Management is responsible for the PA and NJ I/DD Incident Management and investigation program and process to ensure that incidents are investigator, reported and remediated according to program regulations and organizational policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and implements comprehensive risk management program including risk management and safety plans policies and procedures
  • Oversees insurance procurement, claims reporting and management, annual renewal, data tracking
  • Manages insurance broker and third party administrator relationships
  • Designs and oversees the workers compensation programs and light duty programs
  • Oversees OSHA compliance
  • Directs the incident management and investigation process for the PA and NJ I/DD services to ensure incidents are reported, investigated and addressed as required
  • Lead team of Risk Management processionals dedicated to safety, risk management, incident management and investigations and claims management
  • Reviews contracts to insure adequate insurance coverages/bonding as appropriate
  • Monitors and assists outside counsel in defending litigation matters
  • Conducts root cause analyses of sentinel events
  • Leads annual review and recommendations for Risk Management program
  • Participates in investigations and development and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Collaborates with General Counsel and Corporate Compliance Officer to identify and address risk and safety issues across all areas of the organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration or related field; knowledge of safety and loss control processes;
  • Minimum eight (8) years experience with risk financing and risk control techniques related to property, casualty and Workers' Compensation exposures.
  • Industry certification such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) highly desired.
  • Minimum five (5) years demonstrated strong management experience, skills and ability to direct others and work independently is required.
  • Demonstrated advanced experience with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, databases, formulas) and intermediate experience with MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; report-writer experience preferred
  • Previous experience working within a unionized workforce preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve
  • problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high level of data accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal
  • communication skills, including presentations to senior leaders across the organization
  • High level of professionalism and ability to work with and interact with company personnel at all levels
  • Track record for finding solutions to tough problems
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
