Job Summary
The ETL DataStage Developer will design, develop, and enhance software applications using DataStage ETL while addressing data-related issues and supporting reporting requirements. The role will perform root cause analysis, improve application development processes, automate manual tasks, support Agile development activities, and provide production support. The developer will collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and management to deliver quality data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop effective solutions for new and existing data reporting requirements and data-related issues primarily using DataStage.
• Perform root cause analysis and address existing application and data issues.
• Identify gaps in existing processes and continuously improve processes and procedures.
• Automate manual tasks and implement solutions that improve application stability.
• Participate in the analysis of Agile user stories and develop solutions based on business requirements and architecture.
• Develop prototypes when necessary and perform unit testing before deployment.
• Analyze and modify DataStage ETL and Unix jobs.
• Implement and deploy quality software solutions.
• Support applications in production and troubleshoot production issues.
• Collaborate with Agile team members and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Identify and recommend technology, tooling, and process improvements to enhance delivery.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 9+ years of professional experience in DataStage ETL development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience with DataStage ETL, preferably DataStage 11.7.
• Experience with UNIX and shell scripting.
• Experience with Control-M.
• Strong SQL experience with databases such as DB2, Sybase, or Oracle.
• Experience with Jira and Bitbucket.
• Strong analytical and development skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions.
• Experience across the software development lifecycle, including Agile development methodologies.
• Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies and tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, stakeholders, and management.
• Strong customer service and collaboration skills.
• Ability to identify challenges, develop solutions, and continuously improve application development processes and tools.
