Full Job Description
Estimating Manager - Electric Power Construction

Location: DeForest, WI or Commerce City, CO
Salary: $100,000-$150,000
Employment Type: Full-Time | In-Office

Position Overview

We are partnering with an established electrical construction organization that is expanding its electric power operations and building a dedicated estimating function.

The company is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to help lead estimating and preconstruction efforts for electric power construction projects.

Unlike the Estimator opening, this is not an entry point into the electric power industry. Previous electric power estimating experience is required. The ideal candidate will bring experience estimating transmission, distribution, substation, utility, or related power infrastructure projects.

This is a newly created position and an opportunity to play an important role in developing a dedicated estimating function as the organization continues to grow.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support estimating efforts for electric power construction projects
  • Prepare and review detailed project estimates, budgets, and bid packages
  • Perform and oversee quantity takeoffs and labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
  • Review project drawings, specifications, scopes, and bid documents
  • Evaluate project risks, constructability, scope gaps, and estimating assumptions
  • Coordinate with project management, operations, preconstruction, engineering, and field teams
  • Review CAD and BIM drawings and other technical project documentation
  • Maintain detailed estimating information and cost data
  • Support bid reviews and estimate handoffs to project teams
  • Help establish and improve estimating processes, standards, and tools
  • Contribute to the continued development of a dedicated electric power estimating team

Qualifications
  • Previous electric power estimating experience required
  • Experience within transmission, distribution, substations, utilities, power delivery, or related electrical infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction estimating and preconstruction
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Experience developing detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with project management, engineering, preconstruction, operations, and field personnel
  • Degree strongly preferred
  • Two-year degree will be considered
  • Significant electrical linework, lineman, or relevant field training may substitute for formal education

Preferred Technical Experience
  • Microsoft Excel - strong proficiency
  • Bluebeam
  • Primavera P6
  • CAD drawing interpretation
  • BIM drawing interpretation
  • Construction estimating and takeoff software

Compensation & Location
  • Base salary: $100,000-$150,000
  • Position can be based in DeForest, Wisconsin or Commerce City, Colorado
  • In-office position
