Position Overview

The Division Equipment Performance Improvement Manager will assist the West Divisions' Equipment line of business with asset procurement/disposal, asset management, and asset maintenance with direct focus on total cost of ownership for the life of the fleet within the Divisions. Safety and internal customer satisfaction is paramount and will be achieved through collaborating with operations and support of the shop teams. This position requires strong technical abilities, performance management skills, financial understanding, and industry knowledge.

Compensation $120,000-$140,000, 15% bonus

Travel requirements: 60-70%.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure employee-driven safety culture is present and effective
  • Promote safe, effective, and efficient maintenance and repair practices
  • Facilitate regular communication and conference calls with Division and Business Unit Equipment Managers with involvement from Division Procurement Specialists
  • Work with Business Unit Managers to ensure that total cost of ownership (TCO) is competitive or lower than Industry Standards.
  • Work closely with Finance Team on CapEx, budgeting, communication and other functions involving finance
  • Support the CapEx process by assisting Business Units with multi-year planning, standardization and adherence to equipment category strategy, life cycle analysis and strategic disposal plan
  • Provide feedback on all performance initiative metrics
  • Maintain strong communication throughout the Division identifying areas to maximize the life of the equipment at the lowest TOC while reducing downtime
  • Be a visible presence in the Division's shops, field locations and jobs to help identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Offer guidance in repair and maintenance process along with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) usage
  • Assist with understanding of, and regular review of timely, accurate and useful equipment financials, dashboard, initiatives, metrics, and reports
  • Work with Business Units to optimize operating conditions at sites to improve overall equipment performance capacity matching. (ex. - improve haul roads, stockpile management, etc.)
  • Promote partnering with OEM dealers
  • Assist in developing fleet strategies to promote sharing of equipment across markets
  • Champion the development, improvement, implementation and use of shop and equipment excellence programs including compliance/risk, CMMS, tire programs, oil analysis, contamination control, telematics, 5S Program, parts/inventory management, winter maintenance plans, fuel management/storage, preventative maintenance, planning and scheduling, and outside repairs
  • Drive innovation through application of new technology
  • Work with divisional teams to ensure revenue and hourly rates are set properly and the equipment, shop and delivery accounts break even
  • Train, mentor, and coach Division equipment leaders
  • Utilize performance management skills, communication, and knowledge to promote safety, financial success, safety awareness, excellence in programs and overall success
  • Division Equipment Representative - work with CRH National Fleet Operations Team with development, improvement, implementation and the sustaining of shop and equipment excellence programs
  • Winter Maintenance Budgeting
    • Involve Equipment and Finance for accurate budgeting


Education and/or Experience
  • Ten years of progressive shop, equipment maintenance and equipment management experience
  • Experience working with electronic equipment management systems preferred
    • CMMS - Computerized Maintenance Management System
    • EAM - Enterprise Asset Management System
    • ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning System
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Experience in construction and materials industry
