Equipment Operation Supervisor - Machine Shop We are looking for an
Equipment Operations Supervisor located in our Westbury, NY facility. In this role you will be a key member of the Equipment Operations team, responsible for leading machine shop personnel, overseeing work cell performance, and ensuring a safe and efficient production environment.
This role supports manufacturing operations by partnering with Production Control to meet delivery schedules and align resources with demand. In collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Preventive Maintenance teams, the supervisor ensures proper equipment operation and provides training for both new and experienced employees on standardized processes and best practices.

Your Responsibilities:- Supervise all machine shop personnel within Equipment Operations, ensuring alignment with production goals and operational standards.
- This role establishes the production and maintenance strategy and execution plan to ensure maximum effectiveness of equipment and personnel resources to meet Equipment's KPIs.
- Coordinate with Production Control to meet delivery schedules by optimizing resources and maximizing output to achieve KPIs.
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track equipment KPIs, including DTP/DTS, employee efficiency/productivity, conformance to plan, and downtime.
- Ensure accuracy in labor posting and material transactions to minimize variances and maintain data integrity.
- Partner with the Quality team to ensure compliance and consistent production of high-quality products.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to implement technically sound and efficient production solutions.
- Work with Maintenance to ensure effective execution of the Preventive Maintenance program in alignment with Operational Excellence standards.
- Foster a safe work environment and culture that prevents incidents, ensuring adherence to all safety rules by employees and contractors.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Oerlikon Operational Excellence principles and core values.
- Monitor machine OEE and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce variances, improve quality, and meet absorption targets.
- Mentor and develop team members through training on equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including development of standardized procedures.
- Actively participate in Equipment Operations meetings (daily, weekly, monthly) and drive follow-up actions.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support employee development.
- Ensure adherence to established procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Manage employee behavior, including disciplinary actions when required, in alignment with company policies.
- Oversee timecard accuracy and compliance.
Your Profile:- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or engineering and or more than 10 years' experience in manufacturing environment.
- CNC and manual machining experience on lathes and milling. Swiss, conventional and multi-axis preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership in process evaluation and improvement, trouble-shooting and problem solving.
- Experience in LEAN or Operational Excellence practices.
- Green Belt Certification preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment and maintain a positive outlook.
- Must have previous supervisory experience in machine shop or other manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of various softwares including: MS Office, Project, Visio and ERP system. SAP preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with a variety of personnel including machinists, manufacturing staff and management.
- Strong understanding of key manufacturing equipment such as CNC, manual lathes, mills, robotics and automated equipment.
- Understanding of industry recognized best practices for production and manufacturing processes.
For individuals assigned, hired to work or working remotely in/out of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada, Washington State, or New York City, Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $80,000 to $100,000 per year. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law,) medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
