WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As an Epidemiologist, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

1. Lead and conduct complex epidemiologic studies and surveillance activities by designing studies, analyzing public health issues, evaluating epidemiologic methods, and developing procedures to improve data quality and study implementation.
2. Provide scientific consultation and technical assistance to federal, state, local, and other public health organizations on complex epidemiologic investigations, surveillance systems, and public health research activities.
3. Analyze, interpret, and disseminate epidemiologic research findings by preparing scientific reports, manuscripts, publications, and presentations for professional audiences and peer-reviewed journals.
4. Translate epidemiologic evidence into public health practice by collaborating with internal and external partners to apply research findings, improve prevention strategies, and support public health decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

AND

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

• Applying advanced coding and programming to independently manage datasets and design automated processes for data ingestion, validation, and analysis that improve the accuracy and timeliness of surveillance data;
• Developing data products such as analytic reports, dashboards, or presentations that translate public health data into actionable information for diverse stakeholders;
• Providing technical guidance and consultation to state and local health departments on data collection, quality control, and data utilization practices;
• Evaluating public health data systems to ensure alignment with national data standards and improve interoperability across reporting systems and partner organizations.
