The University of Miami Health System ("UHealth") IT Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Epic Senior Analyst, HIM to work remotely.

The Epic Senior Analyst initiates the implementation, builds, and modifies complex applications, and collaborates with key stakeholders, end-users, and application team members to optimize the application's configuration, function, and access. The incumbent supports junior staff members in day-to-day operations and resolving application issues.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders, end-users, and application team members to optimize the application's configuration, function, and access.
  • Serves as a primary support contact for application end-users.
  • Initiates the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the application.
  • Initiates all phases of testing and the documentation of workflow design.
  • Performs the analysis of information technology in clinical work processes and validates the impacts to the workflow.
  • Initiates the identification of issues and guides the work to resolve them.
  • Supports junior staff members in the evaluation and resolution of service tickets, identification and implementation of application changes, retrieval of requested data, and execution of day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborates with trainers on application changes and new features to develop documentation and training strategies.
  • Works with stakeholders, the business community, and end users to ensure the application meets UHealth's business/clinical needs.
  • Participates in on-call rotations and support and attend and participates in, applicable committees.
  • Maintains regular communication with team members, including participating in weekly project team meetings.
  • Reviews the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.
  • Remains knowledgeable about UHealth's policies, procedures, and business operations.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.


Department Specific Functions:

The Epic Analyst 3 - HIM, overseas and leads the Associate Epic Analysts and Epic Analysts on the team and will report to the Senior Manager and will be responsible for:
  • Initiates the implementation, builds, and modifies of the HIM applications
  • Providing oversight and leadership to Associate Epic Analysts and Epic Analysts on the team


As an Epic Analyst 3 - HIM, your contributions will focus on the following:
  • Serves as a primary support contact for application end-users.
  • Initiates the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the application.
  • Initiates all phases of testing and the documentation of workflow design.
  • Performs the analysis of information technology in clinical work processes and validates the impacts to the workflow.
  • Initiates the identification of issues and guides the work to resolve them.
  • Supports junior staff members in the evaluation and resolution of service tickets, identification and implementation of application changes, retrieval of requested data, and execution of day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborates with trainers on application changes and new features to develop documentation and training strategies.
  • Works with stakeholders, the business community, and end users to ensure the application meets UHealth's business/clinical needs.

  • Travel to the job site during go-lives, conferences, rounding, and/or senior leadership meetings.
  • Maintains regular communication with team members, including participating in weekly project team meetings.

  • Remains knowledgeable about UHealth's policies, procedures, and business operations.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Epic certificate in Hospital Coding Administration, Deficiency Tracking Administration, Release of Information Administration, Identity are required.
  • 3-5 years of experience, preferably in healthcare or healthcare-related organization
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Previous operational, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Familiarity with processes that fall under HIM: Chart Tracking, Release of Information, Deficiency Tracking, and Coding preferred
  • Familiarity with transcription and scanning workflows and vendors, and confidentiality and privacy guidelines preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of Master Patient Index (MPI) interfaces and other sources of patient information preferred
  • Understanding of duplicate patient management processes preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Excel
  • Problem Solving: Seeking, logically examining, and interpreting information from different sources to determine a problem's cause and developing a course of action to resolve the problem and to prevent its recurrence
  • Dependability: Ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities and ensure that they are completed in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner
