In this role, you will support environmental test and qualification activities for complex hardware and systems in a disciplined, safety‑focused lab environment, contributing to our enterprise‑wide digital transformation through Model‑based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices. Responsibilities Develop and execute Environmental Test Plans and Procedures for dynamic and climatic tests (e.g., vibration, shock, temperature, humidity, altitude). Perform environmental qualification and verification/validation testing at the unit and subsystem levels under the direction of senior engineers. Assist in identifying and mitigating test‑related risks, including technical and schedule risks. Define and support the design of fixtures, harnesses, and ancillary equipment required to conduct environmental testing. Set up and operate environmental test equipment (chambers, shakers, data acquisition systems) and ensure test setups conform to approved procedures and safety requirements. Support technicians with test setup, troubleshooting, and execution, providing clear and practical engineering guidance as needed. Capture and analyze test data, perform basic data reduction, and assist in preparing test reports and technical summaries. Interface with systems engineering, design engineering, manufacturing, and test engineering to clarify test requirements, resolve issues, and ensure proper verification of requirements. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR Experience with environmental test and qualification (e.g., vibration, thermal, shock, humidity, or similar testing). Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. Ability to work onsite in Woodland Hills, CA. Preferred Qualifications Experience with MIL‑STD‑810 (e.g., 810G/810H) environmental testing and qualification. Experience with Vibration Research (VR) vibration control software and ObserVIEW data analysis software for environmental shaker testing, including test profile creation, execution, and data review. Familiarity with additional military and aerospace environmental test standards (e.g., MIL‑STD‑202, RTCA DO‑160) in addition to MIL‑STD‑810. Hands‑on experience with data acquisition systems and environmental test instrumentation (e.g., accelerometers, thermocouples). Experience with or exposure to Thermotron 8800 or similar environmental chamber controllers. Foundational knowledge of vibration testing (sine and random) and associated fixturing considerations. Strong analytical skills to interpret MIL standards and customer requirements and translate them into test plans and procedures. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams. Self‑directed, organized, and able to manage multiple test tasks with moderate oversight. Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to support occasional extended work hours or weekends to meet critical test or program milestones. Positive, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic and high standards for quality, safety, and documentation. Ability to work effectively within a team‑oriented lab and engineering environment, build strong working relationships, and provide added value to the team through collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement. Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
