  • Identify and promote improvement projects within supported plants, focusing on emission and spill reduction.

Title: Environmental Specialist
Location: Lake Jackson, TX

Salary: $79,000 - $129,500
Schedule: 5/8's hybrid schedule available of up to 2 days remote per week or 9/80's

Focus: The Environmental Specialist shares with the Environmental Leader the responsibility for implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the environmental management systems (work processes, standards, procedures) to ensure regulatory compliance and add value to meet site objectives and maintain the license to operate. This job may be applied within a specific plant or may be leveraged across multiple plants within a site.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage air regulatory compliance for Federal and State air regulations and air permits for assigned operating plants. Works closely with operations to maintain environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for air regulatory reporting such as Title V, MON, HON, AEI, MACT regulations, as applicable; and support for air permit applications for plant projects that consist of new and modified equipment, requests for permit changes, and permit renewal applications to ensure continuous license to operate.
  • Maintain the environmental compliance systems to ensure full compliance. Collect and provide timely data for various EH&S reports (internal and external) and agency requests.
  • Develops and implements strategies to maintain environmental compliance. Evaluates gaps and helps deploy environmental compliance solutions.
  • Provides environmental training to operations, maintenance and other departments.
  • Evaluate Management of Change (MOC) to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Identify and drive improvement project opportunities for supported plants (ex. emission reduction, spill reduction).
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and corrective action process.
  • Participate in and support agency and internal environmental investigations.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree* in Engineering or Environmental Science; Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of environmental/air compliance experience with an understanding of federal and state regulations
  • Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations and compliance; preferably including knowledge and experience with Texas regulations for the chemical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing with the ability to respond during crisis and high-pressure situations and rapidly adjust to changing priorities as
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
