Title: Information Security Systems Specialist
Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $92,100 - $138,800

Focus: Olin Winchester is hiring an Information Security Systems Specialist to be located at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO (Kansas City area). The Information Security Systems Specialist ensures the secure design, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise IT, OT, and classified information systems. A major component of this role is serving as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for classified systems, ensuring compliance with government security requirements, authorization standards, and internal policies. The Specialist also supports the Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) to ensure application security controls are embedded throughout development and deployment processes.
Information Security Systems Specialist Essential Job Functions:
  • Ensure classified information systems maintain full compliance with government regulations and internal classified-system security policies.
  • Maintain continuous protection of classified IS, including auditing, access control enforcement, change control, and configuration compliance.
  • Execute and oversee media handling, sanitization, and destruction procedures for classified materials.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance assessments by government and internal organizations.
  • Support incident response, including investigation, threat analysis, and reporting.
  • Support compliance with frameworks such as NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-82, CMMC and internal corporate security standards.
  • Contribute to SSDLC security activities such as threat modeling, secure coding practices, SAST/DAST and dependency scanning.
  • Ensure adherence to internal SSDLC standards and validate security gate compliance.
Information Security Systems Specialist Minimum Requirements:
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; OR
    • Bachelor's degree* in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience must include professional experience in Information Security, Systems Engineering, Systems Administration, or a related cybersecurity discipline.
  • Experience supporting information security, system security, or compliance activities within enterprise environments; experience working in classified or highly regulated environments and/or serving in an ISSO capacity preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards, preferably NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, CMMC, RMF, and SSDLC practices; experience utilizing SAST/DAST tools preferred.
  • Hands-on experience securing and supporting Windows, Linux, cloud, networking, OT/ICS, and enterprise technology environments, including the use of security monitoring, vulnerability management, and configuration compliance tools.
  • Experience with risk management, security assessments, compliance documentation, and authorization activities, including ATO packages, SSPs, POA&Ms, and risk assessments preferred.
  • Knowledge of secure CI/CD pipelines, cloud security principles, and critical infrastructure or OT/ICS environments preferred.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, SSCP, CISSP, CISM, or CEH preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. Active clearance preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Location-Specific Requirements:
  • Valid US driver's license
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.


*Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent program from an international university.
