Duties

Help

  • Responsible for the overall management, control, coordination and execution of assigned programs and projects involving Remediation and Compliance Assessment of Bulk Petroleum initiatives within DLA Energy.
  • Coordinate environmental compliance and restoration considerations into DLA Energy's planning, design, cost engineering, construction, and environmental considerations, etc., for environmental restoration and compliance projects.
  • Review and analyze cost reports to assure charges are authorized and appropriate; identifies unauthorized charges and assures corrective actions are taken for the ultimate disposition of inappropriate charges.
  • Responsible for keeping DLA Energy customers fully informed of projects/programs' progress, issues and their resolution, and any impacts on costs.
  • Provide recommendations to DLA Energy concerning new or changed programs/regulations and recommend changes in environmental program implementation and procedures based on knowledge of program requirements and problems encountered.
  • Prepare appropriate contractual clauses and independent government estimates to ensure compliance with environmental requirements by contractors, officials, managers, professionals or executives of other agencies and outside organizations.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Environmental Protection Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Experience in the identification and application of concepts and techniques in managing environmental projects and programs to develop, appraise, and extend environmental policies to new and unprecedented studies and projects, coordinate project/program requirements.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and policy.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of the environmental program to include environmental impact assessments, migration measures, and comprehensive program studies which may be characterized by very broad or changing parameters.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
