Environmental Project Manager I

Location: Midland, Texas

Position Overview

Earth Systems is seeking an Environmental Project Manager I to support environmental remediation, compliance, and site investigation projects across the Midland, Texas region. This role requires a strong field presence and regular coordination with operations, clients, and subcontractors across active project sites.

The Environmental Project Manager I supports the planning, execution, financial tracking, and regulatory coordination of environmental projects involving remediation, assessment, compliance, and field operations. This role is ideal for a developing project manager with strong environmental consulting experience who is ready to take ownership of projects while working under senior leadership guidance.

This position supports a wide range of commercial, industrial, oil & gas, and energy-sector clients throughout Texas and surrounding regions.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Project Execution
  • Support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
  • Coordinate soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion, and site investigation activities
  • Manage drilling, sampling, subcontractor scheduling, and field logistics
  • Support remediation projects including excavation oversight, UST investigations/closures, and corrective action implementation
  • Assist with spill response coordination and environmental field compliance projects
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, regulatory documentation, and client deliverables

Regulatory & Compliance Support
  • Support projects involving TCEQ, EPA, RRC, OSHA, and applicable federal and state regulations
  • Assist with compliance related to RCRA, CERCLA, SPCC, SWPPP, USTs, and remediation programs
  • Maintain organized project files, regulatory records, and permit documentation
  • Coordinate with internal Health & Safety teams to ensure field compliance

Project Management & Financial Oversight
  • Assist in developing scopes of work, proposals, and cost estimates
  • Track project budgets, labor utilization, subcontractor costs, and schedules
  • Support invoicing, forecasting, and project profitability reviews
  • Monitor project timelines to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule
  • Work closely with senior leadership on project planning and client management

Field Oversight & Safety
  • Conduct regular site visits and provide field oversight across active project locations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HAZWOPER, and company Health & Safety standards
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety planning, and incident prevention efforts
  • Support field teams with technical direction and project execution guidance

Client & Team Support
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Support relationship development with commercial, industrial, and energy-sector clients
  • Coordinate with environmental scientists, engineers, field staff, and construction teams
  • Assist in mentoring junior field staff and supporting operational success

Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 annually (DOE)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field
  • 3-6 years of environmental consulting or remediation project experience
  • Experience managing environmental site investigations, remediation projects, or regulatory compliance work
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Experience supporting project budgets, invoicing, and financial tracking
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed

Additional Qualifications Preferred
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER (current)
  • Experience working with TCEQ, RRC, EPA, or state environmental agencies
  • Experience with UST investigations, groundwater monitoring, remediation systems, or corrective action programs
  • EIT, GIT, PG, or PE track strongly preferred
  • Oil & Gas environmental project experience is highly desirable

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position includes both office and field work. Field activities may involve walking uneven terrain, lifting up to 50 pounds, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and exposure to active remediation and industrial job sites.

Travel throughout Texas and surrounding states may be required based on project demands.

Regular coordination with Midland operations and field teams is expected.
