You will ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards while identifying and controlling workplace hazards. You will partner with project teams, leadership, employees, and subcontractors to strengthen safety performance and promote a proactive safety culture across the projects.

We are accepting candidates across Upstate NY and Chicago, IL. You will report to the Director, Environmental Health and Safety.

What you'll do:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety programs across solar construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance, BESS, and asset management activities within the assigned region.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the regionally based team of EHS Specialists, holding contracted hires accountable for timely project site visits, effective partnerships with construction and operations and maintenance supervisors, accurate time and expense tracking, and responsive corrective action support across assigned projects.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular project site visits, inspections, audits, and safety observations to verify compliance, identify hazards, evaluate work practices, and ensure identified deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee incident reporting and conduct investigations and root cause analyses for injuries, illnesses, environmental events, property damage, and near misses within the assigned region. Ensure corrective and preventive actions are assigned, implemented, verified, and tracked to completion to prevent recurrence across regional projects.
  • Manage regulatory and environmental compliance for regional operations by ensuring project activities meet applicable OSHA, EPA, state, local, client, and company requirements, including required permits, records, inspections, reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Partner with project managers, site supervisors, O&M personnel, and subcontractors to review job hazard analyses, work plans, permits, and training records. Provide field coaching and verify that effective controls are implemented for high-risk project activities.
  • Monitor regional EHS performance by tracking leading and lagging indicators, preparing reports for regional and project leadership, identifying trends, and maintaining project-specific Health and Safety plans (HASPs), drills, and coordination procedures.

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Safety and Occupational Health or relevant construction safety program leadership experience.
  • 4+ years of full-time safety and occupational health experience in construction, renewable energy or comparable field experience required, with renewable energy EHS work preferred.
  • Demonstrated management experience of direct reports or assigned sub-contractors.
  • Utility-scale electrical safety experience is preferred.
  • NFPA 70E Certification, Associate Safety Professional, Graduate Safety Practitioner or Certified Safety Professional Certifications are preferred.
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.

If you don't meet 100% of the above qualifications, but see yourself contributing, please apply.
