As Apex continues to expand its satellite manufacturing footprint, we are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to support and facilitate Apex EHS programs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, supports and champions EHS systems daily, driving risk reduction across operations. This position is within an existing EHS team, partnering closely with Operations, Production, and Facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Programs & Compliance
- Assist in the administration and maintenance of environmental compliance processes for South Coast AQMD permitting, emissions controls, and recordkeeping.
- Support CUPA programs including Hazardous Materials Business Plans, hazardous waste management, universal waste, and SPCC applicability.
- Sustain core EHS programs including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, machine safety, ergonomics, PPE, contractor safety, and incident response.
- Participate in continuous improvement related to sustainability performance, waste minimization initiatives aligned with corporate and site goals, and environmental metrics.
- Support environmental monitoring programs, including air, water, wastewater, and waste characterizations, as required.
Safety Programs
- Participate in and assist in investigations and root cause analysis for injuries, near misses, spills, and property damage events, under the direction of the Facilities/EHS Department Leadership.
- Help gather and document findings to support corrective action recommendations.
- Support the review of site Process Hazard Analysis' (PHAs) and audit processes to identify hazards and drive mitigation.
- Facilitate Safety Committee implementation, engagement and support safety culture initiatives across departments.
- Support daily operational safety expectations in coordination with Operations and Facilities teams, including PPE readiness, eyewash checks, extinguisher verifications, and general floor-level observations.
- Assist the EHS team in verifying readiness of emergency equipment, signage, and response procedures across the site.
- Provide and/or coordinate specialized training such as first aid, CPR/AED, spill response fundamentals, and emergency drill participation as required.
California Regulatory Compliance (Cal/OSHA)
- Support Cal/OSHA Title 8 programs including but not limited to the Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Heat Illness Prevention, Ergonomics, and Hazard Communication.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 2-5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or similar industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, DTSC, CUPA, South Coast AQMD, LAFD, LASAN, and other local, state or federal regulatory authorities applicable to industrial facilities in the City of Los Angeles.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, delivering safety training, supporting regulatory inspections, and performing compliance audits.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and collaborate across functional groups.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing or closely related regulated industries.
- Experience with laser safety, lithium-ion battery safety, industrial hygiene monitoring, confined space operations, or PSM-adjacent processes.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements- Ability to work across office, laboratory, warehouse, manufacturing, integration, and clean-room environments.
- Ability to use required PPE in designated production and construction areas.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds and respond to field conditions.

Additional Information:Compensation ranges are set by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. A candidate's specific level and base pay are determined case by case and may vary with job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity.
