Job Title: Environmental Application and Project Engineer

Department: FRMA Inside Sales

Location: Rockland, Massachusetts

Reports To: Branch Manager

Job Overview:

F.R. Mahony, a Division of Cummins-Wagner, is seeking an Environmental Application and Project Engineer to join our team supporting a nationally focused, New England-based manufacturer of wastewater treatment systems. Serving the municipal, commercial, and private sectors, this role involves process design, project execution from proposal through startup, responding to customer inquiries, preparing proposals, and solving technical challenges.

The ideal candidate is motivated and technically skilled, with experience in small BNR wastewater systems (Fixed-Film and Suspended Growth). Key qualities include strong communication, a team-oriented mindset, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency.

  • Experience in the on-site wastewater treatment systems is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License or on track for PE is a plus.

  • Experience with PLC Program Logic is a plus
  • Computer skills: AutoCad, Microsoft Excel & Word required. Experience with other Microsoft products, pump-related software, and data analysis preferred.
  • Customer Service, Product Knowledge, Presentation Skills, Client Relationships.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science; Chemistry, Civil/Environmental- Master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with wastewater treatment design, pumps, controls, and wastewater process equipment.
  • Must be able to pass background and reference checks, as well as a drug test


Scope of Responsibility:

Responsible for technical system design, managing the process design of all projects from early sales engagement through project execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning

  • Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) Wastewater system design and project execution.
  • Project Management
  • Interaction with consulting engineers in the preparation and review of system proposals and plans.
  • Customer meetings/presentations, oversee system design and proposal development,
  • Utilize technical, analytical, proposal development/management, and presentation abilities.
  • Review and evaluate technical specifications and drawings.
  • Maintain positive relationships with suppliers. Keep an organized & resourceful work environment
  • Management of project engineer(s)
  • Occasional travel for training, facility commissioning or other business purposes
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
