Opportunity OverviewAs an Enterprise Communications Specialist, Community Communications, you will lead communications strategy and execution to strengthen the firm's market leadership across all generational spectrums of financial education and community impact.
The person in this role must have experience working in highly complex, matrixed environments, providing strategic communications guidance that supports business objectives at the enterprise level while leading and strengthening community and financial education programs at the local and national level.
This role will be responsible for working with a team to support the design and execution of communications strategies in support of the firm's community relations programs, primarily focused on financial education, early savings/wealth building and retirement.
This includes the development and leadership of the communications strategy and tactical implementation for initiatives at the local and national level, as well as larger enterprise-wide campaigns where community impact and financial education serve as a component.
This individual will operate as a key cross-functional member of the firm's External Communications and Public Relations department working closely with colleagues inside the department (Media Relations, Executive Visibility, Reputation Management), as well as across various functions across External Affairs and the enterprise including Home Office and Field Communications in support key firm initiatives and programs. In addition, this person will lead and/or support strategy that amplifies the division's focus on its three strategic pillars: financial education, entrepreneurship, and caregiving.
What You'll Do:- Lead and Support Strategic Execution - Lead and support execution of communications strategies in support of key programs and campaigns across the firm's Financial Education pillar, and in support of Edward Jones' 2030 strategy.
- External Stakeholder Engagement - Cultivate working relationships with key strategic partners, local and national media, influencers, non-profit and community leaders, and business stakeholders.
- Internal Stakeholder Engagement - Work cross-functionally, collaborate with and influence a vast network of internal peers and leaders across firm to ensure that the progress, impact, and value of the firm's programs are amplified across key internal stakeholder groups.
- Events and convenings - Oversee the development and logistics of targeted events aimed at raising awareness and firm influence across key strategic pillars.
- Project Management - Lead communications strategy and its tactical implementation for programs at the local and national level with an ability to deliver under tight deadlines and within specified budgets.
- KPIs and Benchmarking - Develop clear and concise KPIs that showcase program value and return across various internal stakeholder groups. Establish benchmarks along with identify milestones that amplify progress over extended periods of time.
Position RequirementsWhat Experience You Need:- 7+ years of external and internal communications experience, with a background in corporate communications, public relations, community affairs, or related roles.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant certification preferred.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate content across formats.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and align the right capabilities to deliver in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
- Proven track record of delivering results and communicating effectively across teams.
- Ability to establish and optimize project workflows, processes, and budgets.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence, and drive alignment across teams.
- Effective at engaging external stakeholders and influencers to build awareness and advance strategic narratives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams), supporting high-quality content development, data analysis, and cross-team collaboration.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
