Full Job Description
The Enterprise Application Architect is expected to demonstrate technical leadership by leading and managing project resources, clearly communicating guidance, and mentoring junior resources. These actions are a reflection of being able manage the design and development processes while ensuring adherence to project timelines. The Application Architect plays a critical role in software development. By designing applications, creating technical specifications and plans, collaborating with development and operations teams, and ensuring compliance with security and performance standards, the architect safeguards that the solution is developed and deployed effectively and efficiently. While there is likely to be limited, if any, hands-on development, exceptional knowledge of software development practices is required in order to make sure the optimal solution is designed and that the developers work to the highest quality.
The Application Architect is expected to reinforce compliance with security and performance standards as well as align with regulatory requirements. The architect must remain vigilant that the solution is secure and protected against potential security breaches. Similarly, the architect ensures solution configuration and development performs optimally, meeting or exceeding established benchmarks.
Execution
  • Collaborates with development and operations teams to ensure that the solution being built meets user requirements and is scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
  • Performs application and other technology research necessary to write technical designs and convey solution and business processes to stakeholders.
  • Develop instance and landscape strategies for on-premise, cloud and hybrid models of system and process designs involving SAP related solutions.
  • Write detailed solution/application designs documents, specifically the logical and physical design of an application, as well as application integrations with other applications, databases, cloud services and partners.
  • Refines and defines the development process lifecycle by applying best practices to Enterprise Architecture standards and alignment with the other Information Technology standards and guidelines.
  • Develop data flows and cross-system processes to support business-systems and data migration leads in the deployment of new or enhanced solutions.
  • Provide SAP expertise in respect to systems deployment, development, configuration, user access and cross-functional solutions.
  • Communicates and collaborates solution designs with stakeholders and project teams, as well as monitors application development stages, resolve problems and ensure satisfactory completion.
  • Provides peer reviews of application design specifications, drawings, and other solution artifacts.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to business process owners and analysts.
  • Drives and delivers activities related to technology roadmap creation and execution. Works across WEC to drive the development and adoption of key ERP capabilities that are common, innovative, and scalable.
Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent technical experience.
  • 5+ years' experience designing enterprise systems with an emphasis on globally available applications.
  • Experience designing and/or developing solutions based on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom applications.
  • Experience integrating software-as-a-service (SAAS) to other applications and services as well as cloud applications and services.
  • Knowledge of system architectures such as microservices, service-oriented architecture, which are vital for ensuring that applications are designed and developed according to the industry best practices.
  • Experience in SAP-related implementations of NetWeaver, S/4 HANA, BTP, and other SAP cloud solutions involving system transformations and data conversions.
  • Strong understanding of multiple business process areas like hire-to-retire, logistics, materials management, sales, transportation, inventory/ warehousing, quality management, manufacturing and plant maintenance
  • Strong understanding of relational database management systems, particularly Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, and familiarity with HANA.
  • Must have a working knowledge of infrastructure technologies, like Vmware, Windows, and Linux.
  • Familiarity with cloud service architecture, cloud data storage, and data processing is essential to developing scalable and responsive applications.
  • Familiar with concepts such as data encryption, secure data transmission, access control, and least privilege as well as an understanding of security and data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
