This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. Leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin's continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.

  • Shift: B | Mon-Fri (3pm-11:30pm)
  • Location: Huntsville, AL
  • Relocation: Available


Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin's mission.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., precision machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Apply emerging AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing engineering tools to optimize processes, reduce cycle times, and improve first-time quality


Team Focus & Domain Expertise:
  • The Engines manufacturing team provides propulsion solutions for many internal programs and external customers. The Huntsville Engine Factory is responsible for rate production of our BE-4 and BE-3U engines which power the New Glenn vehicle. The factory leverages world-class machining assets and advance fabrication equipment to build and test engines that perform reliably in the most challenging environments. Our team takes pride in continuously improving cost, increasing throughput, and reducing cycle time to lower the cost of access to space.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role: (0-3 years Level 1 Manufacturing Engineer, 3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr Manufacturing Engineer)
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions
  • Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed. Open to work extended hours if required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive is preferred
  • Experience with at least one of the following manufacturing processes: machining, assembly, welding, brazing, balancing rotating hardware, non-destructive test, precision clean
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T
  • Basic tooling or fixture design and fabrication
  • Experience working with Bill-of-materials and BOM reconciliation
  • Strong organizational, project management, and presentation skills (Gantt charting, JIRA tickets, MS Project, Confluence, or similar)
  • Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive
