ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking an
Engineering SME to join our team supporting the
Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage technical efforts related to the design, integration, fabrication, and construction of complex engineering systems.
- Provide subject matter expertise in fire protection systems, including fire alarm and fire suppression design and compliance (e.g., NFPA codes).
- Direct and coordinate daily engineering activities supporting ongoing projects and system modifications.
- Serve as technical lead on integration initiatives, including development and issuance of technical reports.
- Support fabrication and installation efforts across multiple concurrent projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project engineering, facility engineering, and installation groups.
- Manage and track assignments, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and mission objectives.
- Interface with senior leadership and external stakeholders, including government customers, to present technical information and project updates.
- Contribute to scope development, project realignment efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements- Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Requires a strong background in engineering design, fire protection systems, and project execution across multidisciplinary environments.
About the SiteThe NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
