Full Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading technical capital equipment projects at multiple sites from design to completion. Project leadership includes design, construction and customer qualification activities. This role will interface directly with the customer and senior company leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Develop detailed project plans that include customer qualification requirements
  • Set clear, attainable milestones and deadlines that are in-line with customer expectations.
  • Define and document project scopes, goals and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Create detailed project schedules to track progress and ensure timely delivery.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer and team members throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Regularly update executives and stakeholders on project status, challenges, and achievements.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to maintain project standards and deliverables.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments and adjust plans as necessary to meet quality expectations.
  • Draft and submit budgets. Recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Monitor project expenditures and financial resources, ensuring alignment with the allocated budget.
  • Utilize project management tools to document and share project performance data.
  • Be responsive to changing project demands, adjusting schedules and targets as needed.
  • Studies and record time, motion, methods, and speed involved in performance of production and other worker operations to ensure new installations will meet standard production rate expectations.
  • Performs engineering activities in compliance with established company and manufacturing standards, engineering principles, customer requirements, and related specifications.
  • Confers with the engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confers with vendors to determine part specifications and recommends the purchase of equipment and materials used in manufacturing.
  • Understands the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, as applicable to the engineering department.
  • Complies with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, company policies, and accepted safe work practices.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets common industrial, manufacturing, and technical procedures, professional journals, schematics, diagrams, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Speaks effectively before groups of customers or company employees.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in the precision manufacturing industry
  • Verifiable lean manufacturing training and experience.
  • Computer literacy including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, & CAD software
  • Organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting and coordinating failure analysis test plans (destructive and non-destructive).
  • In-depth understanding of modern lean manufacturing and six sigma principles.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Lean certification
  • 6 sigma certification
  • GD&T certification
  • Project management certification


PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle objects.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 15 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in a normal office setting with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor and certified cleanroom.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to moderate.
  • The employee will occasionally be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment.
