As an Engineering Project Manager, you will lead the team of employees responsible for the review, approval and execution of projects submitted by the Development Community, Contractors, and or Consultants.
The Engineering Project Manager is an advanced level supervisory management engineering position with significant field and administrative responsibilities for planning and delivering program services, responding to internal and external customers, and supervising personnel.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required for this position. The selected candidate for Engineering Project Manager will manage, supervise, and participate in a wide range of projects and activities in addition to representing the Public Utilities Department to outside agencies and customers.
Typical tasks for the Engineering Project Manager include the following:
- Establishing, updating, and implementing design policies and standards. Ensure that all Public Utility related projects comply with city, departmental and regulatory agency policies, procedures and standards.
- Administrative work including maintenance of engineering records and plans, processing of daily paperwork including reports, requisitions, and personnel information.
- Gathering and maintaining information to support periodic and special reports documenting activities and events for area of responsibility.
- Supervising, mentoring and training of staff, to include assignment and evaluation of work product.
- Developing and implementing solutions for diverse engineering challenges.
- Assists in updating long-term water and sanitary sewer master plans.
- Developing, controlling, and administering divisional operational budgets including performing cost analysis and projections.

Required Qualifications VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in construction management, project management, planning, public administration, architecture, urban design, or closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this job classification requires a minimum of six years of relevant, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with
City Driving Standards .
Professional Engineer License required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
