Graver Technologies is an Industrial Filter Element and Filter Housing (Vessel) Manufacturer and a member of The Marmon Group (a Berkshire Hathaway Company). We are seeking a Plant Improvement & Safety Manager to lead all facility maintenance, reliability, environmental health and safety, and continuous improvement initiatives within our Industrial Filtration Division.

The Plant Improvement & Safety Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance, reliability engineering, continuous improvement, and environmental health and safety. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success leading maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment while driving Lean initiatives, improving equipment uptime, reducing costs, and fostering a culture where safety is the highest priority.

This position will lead maintenance personnel and contractors while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain functions. Success will be measured through equipment reliability, safety performance, maintenance effectiveness, employee development, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement results.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (PERCENTAGES ARE ESTIMATES)

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence - 40%
  • Lead, manage, and execute Marmon's Lean Continuous Improvement initiatives across the facility to support manufacturing performance and business objectives.
  • Drive Operational Excellence initiatives including waste elimination, TPM, 6S, visual management, standard work, value stream mapping, and root cause problem solving.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve equipment effectiveness, process efficiency, throughput, quality, and cost performance.
  • Analyze maintenance, reliability, and production data to identify opportunities for sustainable improvement.
  • Establish and track maintenance and facility KPIs, ensuring accountability and achievement of business goals.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of continuous improvement projects and operational initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of employee engagement, ownership, and continuous learning throughout the organization.
  • Mentor and coach employees in Lean tools and problem-solving methodologies.


Environmental Health & Safety - 40%
  • Foster a culture which promotes safety as the top organizational priority.
  • Lead all Environmental Health & Safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, local, and corporate requirements.
  • Maintain all federal, state, local, and company safety records, permits, and regulatory documentation.
  • Conduct facility safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance inspections with documented corrective actions.
  • Lead safety programs including Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, contractor safety, confined space entry, hazard communication, and chemical handling.
  • Investigate recordable, non-recordable, and near-miss incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Facilitate facility safety committee meetings and support ongoing employee safety engagement.
  • Coordinate and maintain all required OSHA and regulatory training programs.
  • Develop and report safety metrics and drive initiatives to continuously improve safety performance.


Maintenance & Facility Leadership - 20%
  • Responsible for all aspects of building, grounds, utility systems, equipment, and facility maintenance.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for equipment failures and facility-related issues.
  • Implement corrective actions that improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Ensure maintenance planning and scheduling activities maximize productivity and asset utilization.
  • Manage maintenance personnel, contractors, and service providers to ensure effective execution of maintenance activities.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory management and maintenance system effectiveness.
  • Develop annual maintenance and capital budgets while managing expenditures for budget compliance.
  • Lead facility infrastructure projects, equipment upgrades, and capital improvement initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Support manufacturing operations by ensuring equipment reliability, uptime, and production readiness.
  • Support operations during off-hours and emergency situations when required.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and technical experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive maintenance, facilities, reliability, engineering, or manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct management experience leading maintenance or engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Experience managing capital projects, facility expansions, equipment installations, and maintenance budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, utilities, building systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Industrial manufacturing experience required; filtration, fabrication, assembly, or process manufacturing experience preferred.
