We are looking for an engineering leader who maintains deep technical roots, excels at people development, and brings pragmatic execution to complex problems. - Owner of Technical Vision & Execution: You will own the broad architectural strategy for Customer Interfaces, translating high-level system designs (such as Agentic workflows, Tool-use, and Policy Layers) into structured, high-velocity engineering output.
- Drive Intelligent Customer Interfaces: Guide your team in building Dynamic/Agentic UI components in Vue/Preact/TypeScript that adapt in real time beyond static dashboards, backed by performant, high-concurrency Java services.
- Product & Roadmap Alignment: Partner directly with Product Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to build a balanced roadmap that smoothly weighs feature delivery against technical debt, performance, and system stability.
- Champion Operational Rigor: Foster a culture of extreme ownership around live performance, security guardrails for AI interfaces, incident response, and thorough post-mortem root-cause analysis.
- Raise the Engineering Bar: Maintain a close connection to the codebase to provide meaningful architectural guidance and code reviews.
- Bridge Global Hubs: Serve as a key organizational node in San Francisco, driving documentation-first communication and aligning with cross-functional teams in Amsterdam, Chicago, and other global hubs.
Who You Are- Pragmatic People Leader: You view team development and talent growth as a core metric of success. You know how to guide engineers through problem decomposition, resolve technical deadlocks, and foster a high-density talent environment.
- Full-Stack & Systems Depth: Strong background in full-stack architecture. Proficient in Java for backend services and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or Preact). You have the technical credibility to actively support your team during complex rollouts and incidents.
- Applied AI & Safety Mindset: Familiarity with integrating production-grade LLM workflows, policy layers, streaming latency optimization, and zero-trust security boundaries in regulated industries.
- Product-Minded Strategist: You connect technical work to merchant outcomes. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, setting clear execution horizons (1-2 quarters), and translating product goals into pragmatic technical solutions.
- Collaborative & Autonomous: Comfortable operating with high autonomy in a growing office while collaborating seamlessly across global time zones.
Minimum Qualifications:- 5+ years of experience in a formal engineering management or team leadership role, with a proven track record of growing ICs and managing team delivery.
- 10+ years of total software engineering experience, operating previously as a Senior or Lead Full-Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Proven technical depth in Java backend services and modern frontend JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
