Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Assign work, set priorities, and ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support in product design, machine design, and problem-solving.
  • Conduct performance check-ins, coaching, and development planning for team members.


Product Development & Innovation

  • Oversee the design and development of new water filtration products, components, and assemblies.
  • Guide the team through concept creation, CAD modeling, feasibility analysis, prototyping, and validation.
  • Lead research initiatives to identify new technologies, materials, and solutions that improve performance, quality, or cost.
  • Ensure all new products meet performance, regulatory, safety, and reliability standards.


Machine Design & Manufacturing Support

  • Lead design and development of custom machinery, tooling, fixtures, and production equipment to support internal manufacturing needs.
  • Partner with production teams to understand operational needs and develop engineering solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical or equipment issues; implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Consult with toolmakers and external vendors to support machine builds, modifications, and procurement.


Technical Analysis & Testing

  • Oversee product and machine testing, including development of test plans, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Review engineering analyses such as stress calculations, fluid flow, pressure drop, and material performance.
  • Ensure test results are documented and used to drive design improvements.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and sales teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with customer needs.
  • Support sourcing efforts by identifying and evaluating new suppliers and component options.


Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure engineering documentation-including drawings, 3D models, BOMs, specifications, and revisions-is accurate and maintained per company procedures.
  • Support compliance with industry standards, certifications, and product quality requirements.
  • Present technical findings, project updates, and recommendations to leadership stakeholders.


Continuous Improvement & Strategy

  • Drive improvements in engineering processes, development cycles, and product quality.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies.
  • Contribute to long-term product strategy and innovation roadmap development.


Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in product development, R&D, machine design, or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience preferred (formal management or informal technical leadership).
  • Experience in water filtration, fluid systems, or related industries is highly desirable.


Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo or SolidWorks (3D modeling & detailed 2D drawings with GD&T).
  • Ability to perform mechanical calculations (stress, deflection, forces, fluid flow, pressure, sealing/O-ring analyses).
  • Experience developing prototypes, test fixtures, and using 3D printing for concept evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Familiarity with regulatory, environmental, and performance standards related to filtration products is a plus.
