Job Description

Assisting the Engineering department in ensuring that all equipment and machinery are running properly in all guest rooms and public space areas, while ensuring the budget and payroll is strictly monitored.

Compensation: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per annum plus bonus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:
  • Responsible for working closely with all departments to coordinate the preventive maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas and safety systems
  • Responsible for helping prepare and controlling the annual Engineering budget and assisting in the preparation of the Capital Expenditures
  • Responsible for the Energy management system and monitoring the utility costs
  • Responsible for supervising and directing the Engineering staff
  • Responsible for ensuring prompt and immediate response to maintenance requests for the guests, staff and management of the hotel
  • Responsible for recruiting, scheduling, payroll, and training and development of all Engineering Colleagues
  • Assist the department health, safety and training programs and through compliance and be a key member of the Hotels Emergency Response Team
  • Responsible to ensure that the hotel is in compliance with all municipal, provincial and federal regulations as it relates to the operational functions, as well as fire and safety programs
  • Responsible for the contractors and trades that are carrying out maintenance work on the hotels physical plant and equipment
  • Responsible for renovations of the hotel properties which may include getting prices for budgets, preparing a Scope of Work and acting as Project Manager
  • Required to be available by phone for emergency response purposes


Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) years experience as a Engineering Manager in a similar sized hotel or a similar position in a large unionized heritage building
  • Engineering degree/diploma and or valid trade qualification required
  • Knowledgeable in all Regulations such as Building Codes, Fire & Health Dept
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly skilled in reading and working with blueprints
  • Highly organized, result driven with the ability to be flexible, work well under pressure and a strong level of initiative required
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Computerized Building Automation Programs, Maintenance Software, Auto CAD, and the Office Workplace package
  • Must lead by example by displaying a high standard of performance with ability to communicate these expectations to the team to achieve results
  • Must be highly safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe working environment throughout the hotel
