Position Location: Irvine, Kentucky

Department: Process Engineering

Reports To: Senior Manager Continuous Improvement

Job Status: Onsite

FLSA: Exempt

Job Band: Supervisor

Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of an Engineer Supervisor are to troubleshoot any technical or efficiency issues, including direct or indirect labor issues, quality issues, capacity issues, plant layout, and ergonomic challenges and to report to leadership as appropriate.

Representative Responsibilities
  • Coach, mentor and develop Plant Engineer I and Trainer.
  • Supervise Trainers in sewing facilities including training, hiring, termination, discipline, performance review, assignment of projects and development.
  • Establish methods or rates for operations within the facility to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain all systems and written procedures associated with production, including maintaining bill of material, bill of labor, inventory maintenance and other procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate any sample or pattern changes by analyzing what and how to make changes, costing of the necessary changes, actually coordinating the changes, and reviewing the final results.
  • Determine, develop and implement innovative cost savings associated with method improvements, labor, material and overhead.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost with direct and indirect labor reduction, process improvement, etc.
  • Determine equipment and technology upgrades that reflect appropriate current trends.
  • Ensure continuity in rates working with Engineers in other facilities.
  • Performs capacity studies, follow-up studies, goal cards, etc. on trainees and/or graduate associates as assigned to improve the efficiency of the plant.
  • Produce work output that is produced on time according to recurring or special deadlines.
  • Encourage teamwork and cooperation with coworkers and internal customers.
  • Costing of garments.


Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, or related field of study or equivalent years of work experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years engineering experience.
  • 3 years' apparel industry experience preferred.
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects preferred.
  • GSD or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills required (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio).
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral / written communication skills.
  • Ability to team lead, coordinate and train assigned personnel.
  • Must be organized and remain composed in stressful situations.
  • Ability with mathematics, mechanical comprehension, and problem-solving ability.
  • Analytical skills and precise calculations.
  • High orientation to customer service.
  • Flexible and responsive to new or special projects assigned.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Plant environment. Union and non-union.
  • International and domestic travel required - approximately 25%.
  • Some lifting may be necessary (10-40 lb.).
  • This position has an On-Site location: Associate will work on-site for all work-related activities.
