Job Overview

At Qualcomm, the Technical Account Manager (TAM) is responsible for overseeing the customer's product portfolio and managing the technical aspects of Qualcomm hardware and software components designed into customer projects. As a Staff Technical Account Manager focused on Industrial & Enterprise IoT (IE-IoT), you will work closely with customers building connected, intelligent systems across industries such as industrial automation, smart infrastructure, edge computing, retail, and enterprise solutions. This role serves as the primary technical interface between customers and Qualcomm's internal engineering, product, and business teams, ensuring successful project execution from early evaluation through commercialization and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to:

Technical Customer Ownership: Support the Sales Account Manager by leading and managing technical relationships between IE-IoT customers and Qualcomm business units. Act as the primary technical point of contact for customer engagements.

Project & Execution Management: Provide overall project management for customer programs from concept, evaluation, and design-in through production and deployment. Align customer milestones with Qualcomm hardware and software delivery timelines in collaboration with product management and program management teams.

Issue Resolution & Escalation Management: For projects under development, drive customer issues to resolution by working closely with engineering teams. Mitigate risks and support escalations while setting clear and realistic technical expectations with customers.

Customer Evaluation & Enablement: For projects under evaluation, engage customers by organizing technical trainings, design reviews, and architecture discussions. Gather customer requirements, analyze technical gaps, and assess risks related to commercialization in IE-IoT use cases.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate daily with internal engineering, product, software, and systems teams to support customer success. Effectively translate customer use cases and requirements into actionable feedback for internal teams.

Portfolio & Resource Management: Review the customer project portfolio on a regular basis. Help prioritize customer engagements and provide justification for technical support resource allocation based on business impact and technical complexity.

Required Skills
  • 6+ years of experience in the wireless, semiconductor, embedded systems, or IoT industry.
  • 4+ years of experience managing technology-driven customer projects and technical relationships.
  • Solid understanding of hardware and software integration for embedded, edge, or IoT systems.
  • Ability to proactively manage customer expectations and influence technical decisions through clear communication.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences (customers, executives, and engineering teams).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Administration.
  • Experience as a Technical Program Manager, Technical Account Manager, or Systems Engineer in a software-centric or IoT environment.
  • Familiarity with Industrial or Enterprise IoT architectures, including edge computing, connectivity, device management, and cloud integration.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams where engineers report into independent functional organizations.
  • Background working with enterprise or industrial customers through evaluation, pilot, and production phases.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$125,600.00 - $188,400.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
