Context & Environment

  • Informative financial evaluations require assembling accurate pricing and rate data from Corporate Supply and Finance. Such analysis demands up-to-date understanding of refinery operation. Planning & Economics, Pilotage, Operations, and accounting managers review evaluations.
  • Helping the decision making, in understanding the key constraints of the refinery through management of information systems and data analysis.
  • Developing accurate lost opportunity case studies and spot economic evaluations calls for explicit knowledge of cause/effect interaction of refinery variables. Key Optimization, Supply, Operations, Maintenance and Technical personnel review case studies.
  • Monthly tracking of key performance indicators requires working knowledge of Solomon indices, refinery budget,
  • Perform analysis of refinery mass balance, unit yields, operations and financial results.


Activities

What You Will Do:
  • Perform economic evaluations of past Industrial Performance to provide direction for the Corporate Supply Group's trade activities, and to aid decision making related to alternate unit operating targets and/or product rundown dispositions.
  • Perform analysis of refinery performances compared to budget, monthly plan and other key optimization targets.
  • Perform lost opportunity case studies on unit rate reductions, shutdowns, and production of off-spec products.
  • Monitor site product quality performance indicators.
  • Keep updated availability & Utilization RADAR data base and unit reference capacity. Provide availability reporting.
  • Coordinate and present the Weekly Operating Performance Analysis (WOPA).
  • Develop and maintain dashboards for key performance indicators needed for WOPA and for various gap analysis.
  • Coordinate and present monthly Valorization meeting, gathering inputs from Valorization and other teams at PAR and Houston (RSTO).
  • Develop specific tools and dashboards for the monitoring and valorization of losses, flaring, mass balance issues, fuel consumption, variable cost (energy, catalyst and chemicals), blending performance and other key parameters.
  • Develop and provide information for the refinery yearly operating Budget, Long Term Plan (LTP), and other strategic studies (i.e Solomon).
  • Provide economic support for high payout projects related to potential new product streams, new units, or new modes of operations.


Candidate Profile

What You Bring:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Business or Finance.
  • 3+ years refinery/petrochemical experience preferred, understanding of refinery economics and unit operations.
  • Computer proficiency, good oral/written/interpersonal communication skills, self-starter, multi-tasking capabilities, detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of any of the following would be a plus: Power BI, SQL, SmartView, Excel, Excel VBA, Linear Programming
  • Flexibility of work schedule around deadlines.
