Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems has an opening for a Structural Analysis Engineer or Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals.

This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to a 3/10 (Friday-Sunday) 1st shift.

We are looking for an Engineer who analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability of metal and composite airframe structures. Tools utilized may include NX CAD, Femap, Nastran and a variety of software applications. Primary function is MRB Stress Analysis supporting a high paced production environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides stress MRB dispositions for primary and secondary structure.

  • Review of completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.

  • Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.

  • Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.

  • Maintains and improves part designs, equipment, and systems in support of production deliveries

  • Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives.

  • Evaluation of as built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.

  • Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.

This position can be filled at either the Engineer or Principal Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic qualifications for a Structural Analysis Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with no years of experience.

  • Basic qualifications for a Principal Structural Analysis Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.

  • This position requires an Active In-scope (within 6 years) U.S. Government Secret Clearance as well as the ability to obtain Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.

  • Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering

  • 5 years or more Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP.

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs

  • Experience working on military aircraft

  • Current in-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance

  • Experience performing DADT analysis

  • Analysis experience in a MRB role

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
