Responsibilities

  • Serve as a peer reviewer in general engineering design processes

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Mining Engineer, as part of the Mid-Range team at Fording River Operations, is responsible for supporting the Engineering and Projects departments with planning and stewardship of technical projects, and the integration of major work into the active Mine Operation. This person will hold a key role working within the engineering and other site departments to coordinate the effective planning and execution of critical scopes within the mine.

To be successful, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and enjoys working in a team environment with all levels of an organization. This person has strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and is dedicated to continuous improvement. They have proven problem solving skills and can organize competing priorities to enable effective decision making. In addition, proficiency in mine planning software is essential.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Mine Predevelopment (Swift 4) design, planning, execution support and key stakeholder engagement
  • Major mine infrastructure planning and coordination (powerlines, clean water diversions)
  • Combusting Waste Rock treatment tracking, reviews and signoffs
  • Swift North Suboxic Zone planning and construction support
  • Liasing with key Design Consultants, Engineer-of-Records, and Qualified Persons on above projects
  • Liasing with Reclamation teams on major work in and around the active mine areas
  • Project budget development, tracking and appropriation requests
  • Supporting general engineering designs as a Peer Reviewer in the design process


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in mine planning
  • Professional Engineering Designation recognized by EGBC
  • Strong digital literacy in mining-related software
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent


$91,300 - $126,800 a year

For applicants registered as an EIT or GIT, annual base salary will be determined by EVR's formal progression matrix based on verified relevant years of experience.

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
