About the role:

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Engineer, Mine Engineering, the Engineer-in-Training is responsible for: designing blast patterns, generating loading instructions, and determining blast timing in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner. The position follows a 4x4 day shift schedule.

To be successful, we require someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who works well as an individual and as a team player. This person has strong analytical, logistical, and problem-solving skills, and can prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment.

EVR believes in supporting professional development. While the initial role will be as an EIT, Drill & Blast, the successful candidate for this position can expect to rotate into other roles on the engineering team as they build experience towards their P.Eng application.

In this role you will:

  • Generate loading instructions, determine optimal blast timing to maximize coal recovery and waste rock fragmentation
  • Design drill patterns and manage design files on the drilling digital systems
  • Support on site nitrate management initiatives
  • Support and implement standard methodologies related to drilling and blasting


Requirements:

  • Degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or similar relevant field
  • Registered, or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia
  • Basic digital literacy and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
  • Exposure to the DABS System is an asset
  • Exposure to mine design software, particularly MinePlan3D is an asset


Salary Range: $91,300 - $126,800 CAD/year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
