Your Opportunity

We are seeking a pipeline engineer to work on both small pipeline projects and as a team member on larger projects under the guidance of a senior engineer/designer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineering principles to select the best plan involving the collaboration with multiple stakeholders and expertise within the company. You will assist in verifying compliance with applicable codes, engineering standards, practices, design and construction specifications.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide appropriate engineering input and a technical overview to design activities undertaken by design/drafting staff residing within or outside the project team
  • Contribute to cost estimates in small to large sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines
  • Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within specifications, scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans
  • Perform design work and ensure the drafting of the pipeline alignment sheets, detailed crossings plans, and related pipeline facilities is accurate
  • Create material requisitions and, if necessary, review quotations for compliance with technical specifications
  • Interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure a good working interface and accurate exchange of technical data;
  • Collaborate and coordinate with project team to determine and achieve project objectives
  • Participate in regular project coordination and planning meetings
  • Opportunities for field-based engineering construction support may be available on a project-specific basis


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings, specifications, codes and standards
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness, work independently, and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Thorough understanding of engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Group presentation and interview skills are preferred
  • Requires understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Civil or Pipeline Engineering
  • Licensed with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
  • 5 to 8 years' experience within the pipeline industry

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
