Overview

The Engineer II will support the execution of Gas Utility Pipeline Integrity projects by applying foundational engineering principles and technical expertise. This role requires In-line Inspection (ILI) and Direct Assessment (DA) engineering experience and involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, technical documentation skills, including the ability to clearly present analyses, findings, recommendations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The Engineer II will analyze routine inspection, monitoring, integrity data to identify trends, emerging risks, and performance gaps.  Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow within a dynamic utility environment.

 

Responsibilities
  • Apply foundational pipeline integrity knowledge to evaluate inspection results (ILI and Direct Assessment), support continuous improvement of procedures, and enhance data quality and documentation practices.
  • Interpret pipeline integrity criteria and translate regulatory and company standards into measurable acceptance limits for coating condition, corrosion growth, and leak risk.
  • Perform baseline analyses of inspection coverage, anomaly recurrence, repair completion rates, and integrity performance metrics; recommend minor adjustments to integrity plans and work execution strategies.
  • Develop and maintain method statements and field work instructions for routine integrity inspections; validate effectiveness with field personnel and refine based on operational feedback.
  • Create and maintain basic dashboards and tracking tools to monitor backlog, inspection progress, repair status, and defect trends while ensuring accuracy and consistency of integrity data.
  • Support root cause evaluations for recurring anomalies or integrity issues; document findings and recommend short-term mitigation measures and monitoring requirements.
  • Coordinate with maintenance planning and materials management teams to ensure alignment of repair schedules, resource availability, and material readiness for integrity work.
  • Prepare customer, stakeholder, and landowner communications related to pipeline access, inspection activities, and safety considerations.
  • Assist in the review of vendor scopes of work, inspection deliverables, and contractor performance; track and document deviations from technical and contractual requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Experience with Integrity Assessments, Direct Assessments, Pressure Testing and ILI required

  • Experience working on multiple discipline projects with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills

 

Pay Range: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

 

Work Location: Hybrid 3-4 days per week in the Los Angeles, CA office

 

Visa Sponsorship: Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check
