Full Job Description
An Application Engineer I supports the execution of quotation activities for PCS projects by reviewing bid documents, preparing price estimates and drafting formal proposals for customers summarizing the scope of work including a equipment drawings, bills of material and compliance notes. This role assists in developing competitive bids, interpreting customer requirements and delivering value-driven solutions while managing routine tasks within established processes and guidelines.

What will you do?

  • Analyze RFQs to determine scope, technical requirements, and feasibility.
  • Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for PCS projects including generator paralleling switchgears and associated equipment
  • Prepare proposal documentation including pricing, bill of material, drawings, etc.
  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings and collaborate with engineering to propose new or modified designs that meet customer needs.
  • Ensure compliance with technical design, company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Provide engineering-related information by responding to technical questions and requests.
  • Work closely with Sales to confirm designs and support quote completion through open collaboration with other engineering groups including Electrical, Mechanical, SCADA, Drafting/Panel Layout, etc.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including vendors, customers and end users on as needed basis to collect information and documentation to accurately design and price a job.
  • Evaluate basic commercial risks and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Execute tendering activities to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Implement and maintain non-technical processes and procedures related to tender management (i.e. RFQ, SME review, SOC approval, etc.).
  • Work on assigned tasks with minimal reliance on other functions, while collaborating as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records associated with tendering activities.


On some days you might:

  • Assist in developing competitive bidding strategies to improve win rates.
  • Support Sales during customer meetings as needed to provide technical and commercial input.
  • Collaborate with Sales to analyze competitors' offerings and assess company positioning in the market.
  • Continuously build industry knowledge and proactively share insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of templates and design standards.
  • Provide support in maintaining consistency and standardization across tendering and design practices.
  • Assist in cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Travel up to 5% as required to support customer engagements or internal collaboration.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned for yearly performance and development goals.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic understanding of tendering processes, RFQs, and cost estimation.
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems specific to low voltage and medium voltage paralleling switchgears, circuit breakers, protective relays
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, UL, Seismic, etc.)
  • Knowledge of commercial principles and risk considerations.
  • FE/PE certification in Electrical Engineering

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 68,000 - USD 102,000 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
