Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company is seeking an Electrical Engineer EIT who will be responsible for assisting in the design, engineering, analysis, equipment selection, and system layout of electrical systems for multi-discipline building design projects for commercial, higher education and government facilities of moderate to large scope.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Compensation for this position is $81,120.00 - $85,280.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
  • Working with, responding to, and taking direction from Senior Engineers, Project Managers, Managing Principals, Department Directors, and senior management
  • Performing various aspects of Electrical Engineering design, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analysis, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for building design, upgrades, and retrofits
  • Working in a multi-discipline design team supervised by senior engineers and project managers on projects of medium to large scope. Coordinating and communicating with other engineers and design team members
  • Meeting with clients as directed
  • Complying with the firm's quality control policies and procedures
  • Learn and implement department and company standards
  • Preparing project programming, schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents.
  • Providing electrical support services during the bidding process, such as preparing addenda, amendments, and responding to RFI's
  • Providing electrical construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings and preparing record drawings

Required Experience

  • Must have graduated from an ABET-accredited 4 or 5-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering focus), Electrical Engineering Technology, or Architectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering focus)
  • Must have earned the designation of EI or EIT in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdiction
  • Pursuing Professional Engineer licensure (PE) within 12 months of eligibility

Preferred Experience
  • Understanding of sustainable design principles and design practices included in LEED and Well Building standards is encouraged
  • Additional certifications such as RCDD, LC, IALD are encouraged to reflect personal growth in the profession and an ever-increasing knowledge base to enhance the design and documentation process
  • Active membership in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations is desirable

Working Conditions

The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required.
