Engineer, Embedded Electronics

Job Summary:

The embedded electronics engineer will be tasked with board-level circuit design/analysis, troubleshooting, review of drawings, test plans/reports, substantiation of airworthiness requirements, and verification of design. This will include coordination with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, production, customer, and regulators.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Design electronic assemblies based on given technical requirements
  2. Coordinate the production and verification of prototypes
  3. Assume management of existing product lines including undertaking necessary obsolescence redesigns
  4. Coordinate with mechanical design resources to design packaging of electronics
  5. Coordinate with software design resources to explain HW-SW integration
  6. Coordinate with system design resources to define electrical interface requirements
  7. Coordinate with technicians to build/repair prototypes and test new ideas
  8. Design of necessary test equipment to support development projects
  9. Manage design documentation: drawings, test plans/reports, airworthiness compliance, etc.
  10. Research and development into new methods and techniques as a part of product improvement
  11. Analyze and determine project scope and risks for new development opportunities
  12. Utilize basic understanding of ARP4761 system safety analysis as an input to design considerations
  13. Create efficient ways of adapting existing products to new applications
  14. Perform root cause analyses and formulate solutions to findings for field and production failures
  15. Create test plans and reports for avionics qualification testing: DO-160, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, etc.
  16. Develop procedures for and execute programs for certifying complex hardware per DO-254

Job Requirements:
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  2. Experience: 5-10 years in mixed-signal electronic design in avionics and/or sensor integration
  1. Soft Skills: Must be self-motivated, highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and can quickly learn new standards and concepts through self-teaching
  2. Technical Skills: Analog Circuit Design, Digital Circuit Design, Microcontroller Integration (STM32 experience preferred), PCB Layout, C Programming, Familiarity with Standardized Aerospace Parts, Strong Troubleshooting Skills

Tool and Standard Experience: SPICE, Altium, Lab Test & Measurement Equipment, MS Office, MIL-STD's, DO-160, DO-254, DOD Design and Development Process
