PHYSICAL OFFICE LOCATION: PEC Headquarters - 201 S Ave F, Johnson City, TX 78636

$83,608.80 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits

Midpoint of pay range: $104,511.00

*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing routine technical work, applying established techniques and procedures to perform engineering tasks under the direction of a professional engineer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate design and test data
  • Research technical specifications
  • Study technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications
  • Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to become familiar with standards and customer requirements
  • Operate computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment
  • Develop new strategies to maximize the utilization of engineering design software
  • Confer with engineers, customers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products
  • Review construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
  • Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical equipment, facilities, and systems for electrical utility system purposes under the direction of a professional engineer
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment under the direction of a professional engineer
  • Perform detailed calculations to define and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications under the direction of a professional engineer


  • Investigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem and recommend remedial measures
  • Review and report project progress to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget
  • Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
  • Collect data and gather information or documents
  • Perform a variety of standard engineering computations and analysis under the direction of a professional engineer
  • Prepare engineering drawings, maps, and construction specifications under the direction of a professional engineer
  • Perform basic staking and survey work
  • Conduct transmission and distribution system studies under the direction of a professional engineer
  • Research material specifications and resolve basic material issues
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field
  • Eighteen months of related experience and Engineer in Training Certification OR
  • Post Graduate Engineering degree in a related discipline OR
  • Four years directly related work experience
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
