Role Summary

The Engagement Manager serves as the primary client-facing leader responsible for driving successful delivery of large-scale Data Engineering, Analytics, and Data Platform initiatives through a global delivery model. The role acts as the bridge between client stakeholders, EXL leadership, and offshore delivery teams, ensuring alignment of business objectives, technical execution, delivery quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.

The Engagement Manager provides program governance, delivery oversight, solution leadership, risk management, and relationship management while leveraging offshore teams for execution.

Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Primary day-to-day client contact point and often interact with Director and Senior Director-level stakeholders.


  • Primary client day-to-day contact & ensure client needs are well understood, defined & met


  • Serve as the primary interface between senior client management and EXL senior leadership (VPs and SVPs)


  • Understand client objectives, priorities, and challenges and translate them into actionable delivery plans.


  • Own execution of the project, with on time delivery every time, ensuring project goals are met


  • Manage and provide leadership around data infrastructure and data engineering by overseeing development, customization, and management of data integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems


  • Review solution approaches and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and business objective


  • Identify and improve the technical competencies within the team and establish practices for delivering engineering excellence


  • Partner with client engineering teams to understand their data needs and help create tools and automation that helps them derive value from their data


  • Act as the escalation point for delivery, operational, and stakeholder-related issues.


Qualifications

Requirement/Competencies:

  • Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) degree in in a quantitative or technical field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent


  • 8+ years of experience comprising development for data systems at scale (building data warehouse, data marts, data lakes, ETL, analytic solutions, etc.)


  • Experience leading data migration / cloud transformation engagements


  • Experience with and understanding of Databricks, Azure Data Platform is a must.


  • 5+ years of leadership and people management experience in a technology environment


  • Knowledge of market trends including cloud technology


  • Experience managing projects involving cloud data platforms, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, analytics solutions, and reporting ecosystems.


  • Demonstrable leadership ability, superior problem solving and people management skills


  • Excellent listening, written communication and presentation skills
