The Role

The Lead Solution Train Engineer (STE) is a critical servant leader and coach for the Solution Train within our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will be responsible for coordinating execution across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs) in the value stream, facilitating solutionlevel planning, and synchronizing delivery. The STE emphasizes dependency management and readiness before commitments, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure smooth delivery. You will leverage a deep understanding of complex, interconnected systems to foster conversations that drive the highest value realization, ensuring that all aligned ARTs deliver as one coordinated solution.

This is a remote opportunity open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Solution-Level Planning & Synchronization: Facilitate solution-level planning sessions, Pre- and Post-PI (Planning Interval) Planning, and ongoing synchronization ceremonies (Coach Sync / Scrum of Scrums, Solution Sync) to align delivery across ARTs.
  • Cross-ART Coordination: Coordinate execution across the ARTs in the value stream. Own the movement of work across ARTs and coordinate epic delivery spanning multiple teams.
  • Dependency & Risk Management: Identify, manage, and mitigate cross-ART risks, dependencies, and capacity constraints before they threaten solution delivery. Ensure a smooth delivery process by proactively escalating and tracking impediments.
  • Metrics & Quality: Own solution-level metrics and reporting (flow, velocity, health) in the designated management tool. Promote built-in quality practices including continuous integration, automated testing, and DevOps.
  • Release Management: Coordinate and facilitate the release process across the Agile Release Trains.
  • Relentless Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement; facilitate the Inspect & Adapt (I&A) event at the solution level.


What We Look For in a Candidate

  • 8 years of experience in technical program management, SDLC operations, or Agile leadership.
  • Proven ability to facilitate PI and Readiness, including establishing and communicating annual calendars for iterations at the portfolio level. Awareness of ART-level PI Objectives within the Value Stream.
  • Ability to ensure strategy and execution alignment by working closely with stakeholders, providing input on resourcing, and operating within the Agile Release Train budget. Superior problem-solving skills with a track record of effectively escalating and tracking impediments.
  • Continuous Improvement Champion: Supports an agile servant leader mindset. Encourages continuous improvement, participates in Communities of Practice, and provides coaching for Value Stream Solution and ART-level roles.
  • Value Stream Complexity Management: Demonstrated ability to apply Agile at Scale concepts to manage aligned capabilities. Comfortable taking responsibility for a set of capabilities that align to the value stream.


Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$105,786 - $141,047 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$111,074 - $148,099 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$116,364 - $155,152 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
